Savio Residential Treatment Center Conversion

Lakewood, CO

The abo co-op designed the conversion of the residential treatment center into 16 private offices, 12 hoteling stations, lounge, huddle room, and a small conference room. The cafeteria was converted to a café for the employees. All interior spaces were daylit with Solartube skylights.

Working with families and individuals in crisis is a stressful job. A fundamental design principle was to create a relaxed environment that encouraged collaboration among the social workers. Carpeting and casual, comfortable seating were introduced in the cafeteria. Private offices where supervisors could have confidential conversations were provided around the perimeter with access to natural light and ventilation. Touch-down hoteling stations were added to enable and encourage remote workers to do their paperwork with their team and supervisors.
